Mashu Mashu translates from Hebrew as something unusual and special.

Born and raised in Toronto, Laura Goldstein has worked professionally in the arts for more than 25 years as both a performing arts/design/celebrity publicist and professional writer for many national newspapers and magazines. Her features regularly appeared in the Globe and Mail, Canadian House & Home, Chatelaine, National Post and many others.

Laura’s highly creative imagination has fueled her unique campaigns for film, television and the performing arts. Her work has included promotion for Oscar-winning composer (Lord of the Rings Symphony) Howard Shore, the Canadian Premiere of the Return of the Jedi; film director Deepa Mehta; and New Yorker cover artist Anita Kunz. A lover of theatre and tennis, Laura is someone who lives the ethos “do what you love, and you’ll love what you do.” In her early days as a publicist, she worked the beats for Canada’s Stratford Festival, Shaw Festival, Royal Bank Jazz Festival and Wayne Gretzky Celebrity Tennis tournament. For six years Laura was Media Manager for what is now Toronto’s Roger’s Cup Tennis Tournament, or as she likes to say, back when Andre Agassi had long hair and John McEnroe still threw his tennis racquet.

Now based in beautiful Vancouver, British Columbia, Laura knew that there was a niche that would combine her love for all the arts, culture, travel and food on the local, national and international scene. She is an intrepid researcher and goes after stories and angles that  are off the beaten track. That’s the twist!
